Happy Birthday to Ori

A week ago Ori celebrated his 9th birthday.  Even though he couldn't have a party with friends, we were able to make the day just as memorable.  He has been feeling very well, so he was certainly able to enjoy it!

I contacted one of our firefighter friends a few weeks ago to see if maybe he and some of his buddies could send Ori a few birthday cards in the mail.  I should have known that my request would spread.

Ori not only received tons of birthday cards from firefighters and stations all across Phoenix, but he also had a few visits from some of the firefighters closest to our house.  Stations 27, 9,  91 and 31 all stopped by in their trucks to wish him a happy birthday.  Some of them even came with gifts and ice cream.  Many of our firefighter friends also called to chat with the birthday boy.

It was a very special day for our little firefighter, and a great reminder to Justin and myself that we are not alone.  We know we have family, friends, and the fire department.

Firefighter John at Station 72 drew this for Ori!

Station 9

Captain Ed with our new friend from the Phoenix Police Department, Lieutenant Tom. They made the shadow box for Ori, complete with official police and fire badges.

Firefighter Matt from the Glendale Fire Department.  They bought him the Lego fire station!
