It's hard to believe that we've been home from the hospital for almost three weeks. It's been a very busy time for us. We decorated the house, celebrated Christmas, went to the clinic twice every week for appointments, cleaned Ori's bathroom every day, mopped the whole house every other day, and did everything involved with Ori's medical needs. It's been exhausting!
It has been quite an adjustment for all of us, trying to get organized with our new routine. It's been hectic, but things are starting to fall into place for us. Ori's appointments will hopefully reduce to once a week, and he will be ending some medications soon. That will help lessen the load at home.
Ori is doing very well with his recovery, and his doctors are pleased with his progress. He isn't showing any signs of host vs. graft disease, and his body is functioning normally. With the exception of a very small appetite (very normal at this point), Ori is really acting just like Ori. He's up and about every day, playing with Andon and finding all kinds of creative things to do.
Even though Ori's recovery is going very well, it in no way means that he will be cured of his leukemia. In fact, his doctors won't be able to say he's cured until about 5 years from now. We are thankful that he made it through transplant without any adverse reactions, but we know that there is still a long way to go.
In the meantime, there's plenty of time for playing!
