Back Home Again :)

Ori's ANC # finally bumped up from 0 Thursday morning!  It wasn't quite high enough to send him packing, heading back home.  So the Dr. decided to do a special afternoon re-draw to check if Ori's blood showed a high enough ANC # to let him enjoy his own bed tonight, instead of another night in the hospital bed.

The Dr., Dr. Henry, has a playful way of calling the patients he sees by different names (he calls Ori "George").  At first, years ago, this humor was lost on Ori in his young age.  But in the past 6 months or so Ori began to enjoy it, and he even started returning the playful gesture, coming up with his own silly nickname for the Dr. in return: "Banana".

So it was with wary skepticism that Dr. "Banana" 's afternoon blood draw special request was met.  He wanted Ori to jump all around and be physically active before doing the blood draw.  That was a new suggestion.  It turns out that kind of activity can help release from the marrow otherwise undetectable white blood cells that are newly created but slow to show themselves on a blood test.

Sure enough, ol' Banana's trick worked... Ori's ANC # was high enough to head home and by dinner time all four of us were together again under the same roof, with Andon and Ori happily playing together as always!  :)
