Cheese, cheese and more cheese!
It's hard to believe, but Ori has only 1 day left to take the steroid! We have been counting down the days and day 28 will be tomorrow. No one is more thrilled than Ori!
It has not been an easy 28 days. The steroid has made Ori's appetite grow. He has wanted to eat, eat and eat some more! It would have been a bit more manageable if he still wanted to eat all the foods that he enjoys. Unfortunately, the steroid causes a craving for salty foods. His food of choice?
Why cheese of course!
Cheese sticks, cream cheese and pretzels, cheese slices, cheese sandwiches, cheese on crackers, cheese crisps...
The craving for cheese has been severe at times, but Ori has still managed to eat other foods too, as long as he could have just one more cheese stick after eating a cup of applesauce. Or three more crackers with cheese if he drank the rest of his fruit smoothie. I've never done more negotiating about food in all my life!
Hopefully the steroid won't take too long to leave his system. He has felt good overall, but we can tell that he feels a bit uncomfortable (there's so much food in there!) and the steroid has left him a bit tired.
We plan on having a party on Sunday morning to celebrate the first day NOT taking steroids. We will all breathe a sigh of relief as we take a break from taking pills three times a day, constant hunger and most of all...
cheese!
