Our New Normal

We are two weeks into the treatment process, and we are slowly adjusting to our new normal.  Ori has done so well taking the medications and doing his mouth care.  He knows that he has leukemia in his blood and that he needs to take the medicines to get the leukemia out so that he can be healthy and strong.  It's not anything scary, just a fact that we've shared with him to explain everything that is going on.

He's enjoying our visits to the clinic, too.  Last Monday after our clinic visit, he told me (Kaye) that he had such a great time at the clinic.  He is so excited to go back today!  Andon is joining us, and Ori can't wait to share all of the fun things about the clinic with him.  We really couldn't ask for a more wonderful little boy!

Thanks to our fabulous friends, we are having meals and groceries delivered to our house.  Since it will be at least two weeks before we can get out with Ori, it's been such a relief to not have to worry about running errands.  We spent this past weekend just being together, playing and having a great time being a family.  It was terrific!

Ori is missing his friends, but he is having fun being at home playing with Andon.  They are such great friends!  The boys have received lots of mail from family and friends, and they are excited every time the mail man arrives.  Thanks to all of you who have sent mail!  It is really helping Ori feel connected.  He loves to talk on the phone, so he's happy to chat anytime.  He had a great phone call with his friend Henry last week.  It was so cute to hear their conversation!

So, we are readjusting well, but we know that things are going to change soon as the multiple hospital stays begin in less than 7 weeks.  For now, though, we are just enjoying our time together and not giving much thought to what is on the horizon.  It will be here soon enough, and then we'll have plenty of time to think about it.
