Day 8

Ori has had a rough couple of days.  He has been dizzy, nauseous and a bit disoriented.  He's also experiencing bad headaches, so he spent most of yesterday sleeping.

It's unclear at this point if what he is experiencing is a result of the cell infusion.  His symptoms are not what most patients have experienced, and they could be a result of the chemo he received weeks ago in his spinal column.  Inflammation, which can cause neurological issues, can be a side effect of those chemo drugs.  Yesterday he had an MRI to take a closer look at his brain, and today he will have a lumbar puncture to see what is happening in his spinal fluid. Hopefully those results will all be normal.

Even though Ori's reactions are not the same as those experienced by other patients, they still could be a result of the cell infusion.  There are only 60 other children who have received this therapy, so it is very possible that all of the side effects are still unknown.  That thought gives us a bit of comfort.  We were prepared for Ori to experience all kinds of side effects, but it's a little discomforting to know he is experiencing different side effects for reasons that are unclear.

Today is a new day, so we will wait and watch and hope that he starts to feel better.
