Yesterday Ori had his first day of cranial radiation treatment. He did really well considering radiation is not easy. He had to lie perfectly still all by himself in a big room with a huge, loud machine. He also had to do all of this while wearing a mask over his face that is bolted down to the table to keep his head still.
Ori was nervous, but he did it, and without one complaint. He is amazing! We talked about how the machine looks and sounds like a space ship, so he wore his astronaut outfit of course. I told him to have a good flight as I left the room.
It was the first time I have ever felt sad during one of Ori's treatments, probably because it was the first time he ever had to endure something completely by himself. Luckily cranial radiation is short, lasting only a few minutes, and he only has two more days left. Then we move on to total body radiation treatment next week.
Ori with the mask he has to wear. They decorated it like Captain America for him. Of course Andon came along, too. You can always use support from your little brother, the Army Ranger!
