A Visit with Santa

A few weeks ago Ori told us that what he wanted more than anything for Christmas was to meet Santa Claus.  Of course our hearts melted.  What a boy!  But then we wondered how on earth we would make that happen.

Ori's immune system has been so low lately that a trip to the mall to meet Santa there was just out of the question.  We started to think about all of the older gentlemen we knew who just might be able to pull off being Santa.

But then Make-a-Wish came to the rescue!  By pure coincidence the Make-a-Wish AZ team had put together a meet Santa event at the zoo.  And this wasn't just any Santa.  This was THE Santa from the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade!

We are beyond grateful to everyone at Make-a-Wish for making room for our little guys to attend this very special event.  This was the first time that either boy had met Santa.

They were both nervous, but after being around Santa for a bit, they were both ready to tell him what they wanted for Christmas.

We were fortunate enough to see Santa once more before he left on his big red tour bus. Not quite the sleigh with reindeer, but it sure was enough to impress two little boys who love machines!

And the local news captured some of the visit outside of Santa's tour bus, including an interview with Ori about it:

Ori's immune system is still low, so we're staying home baking, playing and just enjoying our time together.  This week Ori starts the next phase of treatment, assuming his numbers are high enough.  All the chemotherapy for the next two months will be done at the outpatient clinic.  Hooray!
