Hawarden, Iowa

This past summer Ori received a package in the mail from Hawarden, Iowa.  Inside was a letter from Lisa .  She told Ori that she had heard about him from her daughter, Megan, who lives in Phoenix and volunteers with the Phoenix firefighters.

She was so touched by his story and wanted to do something special for him.  She sent along a photo of her local volunteer firefighters.  She had a T-shirt made for him with his name on it and the logo of the Hawarden Fire Department.  He loves it!

Ori is standing next to a tire from the airport fire truck.  They are huge!

She also sent along a check for Ori to use for fun.  We just couldn't believe it!  So while Ori was in the hospital over the summer he found a fire truck in the gift shop that he just loved.  How excited he was when I told him that he could buy it with the money that Lisa had sent him!

We are constantly amazed and humbled by the generosity of strangers.  There are so many individuals who have done special things for Ori.  Last week we opened the mailbox to find a package from Megan, Lisa's daughter.  She wrote Ori the most touching letter.  And she also sent along a wonderful pillowcase made by her friend.

Ori thinks it is the softest and most awesome pillowcase ever!  It has been on his pillow ever since it arrived in the mail.  What a perfect gift for a little boy who dreams of being a firefighter.
