A few weeks ago Andon put on a brave face and had his blood drawn to see if he was a bone marrow match for Ori. He sat right down on my lap, put out his arm, and remained calm as the nurses poked not one but both arms. He was awesome!
There was only a 25% chance that Andon would be a match, and a few days ago we found out that he is not a match for Ori. The news was not too surprising.
Having a bone marrow transplant was one option to cure Ori's leukemia. Now that we know the boys are not a match, we are moving ahead with the next option-chemotherapy for the next two years.
Many of you have offered to be tested to see if you are a bone marrow match for Ori. We are humbled by your offers. Fortunately Ori will not need a transplant at this time.
We are grateful to now know what the next two years will look like for Ori and our family. It will include many hospital stays, but we will just take them one at a time...together.
