A room with a view

Ori had a fever on Friday and was admitted to the hospital.  His fever has gone down since then, but we are now waiting for his body to be strong enough for him to go home.

As expected, the treatment he received a week ago wiped out not only leukemia cells, but also the ones he needs to fight illnesses and infections (mainly white blood cells).  We have been giving him daily shots of medicine at home since the treatment a week ago to help stimulate his body's process of making white blood cells.  Hopefully his bone marrow will begin working soon so that he can go home.

Ori is doing OK.  He was in good spirits on Friday, but with interrupted sleep, a few sores in his mouth (due to his low immune system), doing mouth care 3 times a day (brushing, swishing mouth wash, then swishing and swallowing medicine), taking a medicine to stimulate his appetite twice a day, and receiving a daily shot of medicine, his spirit is dwindling a bit.

When he is feeling good, he really doesn't mind being at the hospital.  He has a terrific view with lots to see to keep him entertained...

Hi fire station 5!

Hopefully we will be home by the middle of the week.  We'll just have to wait for his bone marrow to get to work!
