Fevers, rashes and the E.R.

What a week!

Ori's day of celebration Sunday lasted just one day. Monday evening he got a fever and we had to take him in to the ER. That's the requirement with a high fever and a port (to draw blood and test for a possible bacterial infection).

Luckily his immune system #s were high enough to allow us to go home after a few hours in the ER.

The next day was a regular clinic appt for a spinal tap (all went well).

Wednesday was a regular day (hooray!). Though it ended with a rash surfacing along his neck and forehead.

Thursday saw the rash spreading and ended with another fever and, as a result, another ER trip. Again, luckily his immune system was high enough that he didn't have to be admitted to the hospital, and around 11:00pm he was finally headed home to his own bed.

Then Friday, after a tired morning of catching up on lost sleep, yet another fever surfaced. This time, it was midday and early enough that the oncology clinic was still open, allowing us to go there rather than the ER. They gave him anti-biotics, ran a strep throat test (negative!) as a possible cause for the rash, then sent us home with high enough immune system #s to yet again avoid a hospital stay.

So, 5 days, 4 needle pokes, 2 ER trips, 1 rash and a lot of tired people in the house.

We're hoping for a fever-free weekend!
