The end of a long week

Last week Ori was at the outpatient clinic every day from 8am until 4pm receiving chemotherapy treatments.  Monday was a long day, but after getting through that first day, the rest of the week went really well.

Each day Ori arrived early enough to sit in his favorite chair at spot 13.  From there he could see all the vehicles arriving at the emergency room, including ambulances of all kinds, police cars and even a few fire engines.

Andon came and stayed with us each afternoon.  He was a trooper!  He enjoyed all the toys and special snacks at the clinic.

We planned a couple of fun surprises for Ori and Andon to help break up the week.

On Tuesday we had a visit with firefighter Scott.

Ori had such a great time giving firefighter Scott a tour of the clinic.

On Wednesday Captain Ed and the firefighters at station 5 and the Battalion Chief came to visit.  They arrived in their fire truck and brought a few special gifts for Ori and Andon.

Station 5 is the fire station right on the campus of the hospital that we drive by every time we visit the clinic.  It was amazing to meet them!

And Captain Ed came to our house back in October to help with Ori's Wish.  He's been checking in with us frequently to see how Ori is doing.  What a terrific friend!

During the week a few friends came to visit, too.

Braeden and Addison brought Ori a new game to play, and on another day a surprise clown arrived!

Thanks for visiting us, Aden and Bozo (aka Mama Erin!)

On Thursday we heard a rumor that a fire truck was coming to the hospital to visit the patients there.

While we were outside waiting for a fire truck to arrive, we ran into Captain Scott from the Phoenix Fire Department.  He recognized Ori from his Wish day and later came to visit Ori inside the clinic.  He shared some great stories about being a firefighter!

Then we went back outside and saw all the trucks from station 9 arriving.

Ori has a special connection with station 9.  Some firefighters from that station came to help build his firehouse on his Wish day.  He was so excited to see them and their trucks!

We took a tour of the trucks and spent some time with the firefighters.

Not a a bad week at all!
